Chrysocolla is a hydrated copper cyclosilicate mineral. The name comes from the Greek chrysos, "gold", and kolla, "glue", in allusion to the name of the material used to solder gold, and was first used by Theophrastus in 315 BCE. Associated minerals are quartz, limonite, azurite, malachite, cuprite, and other secondary copper minerals. It is sometimes confused with turquoise because of its coloring.

Chrysocolla is first and foremost a Stone of Communication. This mineral is essential to empower our words and actions and convey them in a peaceful manner to aid in teaching, expressionism, creativity and intellectual communications. It discharges negative energies, calms, and allows truth and inner wisdom to surface and be heard. It heightens analytical and intuitive abilities while being a delicate balance of calmness. It encourages compassion and spontaneity. It diminishes the anxiety and depression that often accompanies seclusion from living alone. For those in a rocky relationship, it brings about acceptance, resolution and peacefulness and the willingness to compromise in areas where conflict abides. It is a great talisman for musicians and vocalists because it eliminates fear and provides confidence to those performing in public. It also provides healing to the throat and lungs after performing. It is excellent to use at the Heart Chakra to flush and heal heart blocks like loss, hurt guilt or fear. Being a mineral of copper, it aids in reducing pain from inflammations, arthritis and joint discomfort.

Cuprite is a copper oxide mineral and is a minor ore of copper. Cuprite was first described in 1845 and the name derives from the Latin “cuprum” for its copper content.  It is known as ruby copper due to its distinctive red color. In spite of its nice color, it is rarely used for jewelry because of it is brittle and relatively soft. The mineral has a heavy high specific gravity. The luster is sub-metallic to brilliant adamantine. It is a secondary mineral which forms in the oxidized zone of copper sulfide deposits. It frequently occurs in association with native copper, azurite, chrysocolla, malachite, tenorite and a variety of iron oxide minerals. Cuprite is found in the Ural Mountains, Altai Mountains, and Sardinia, and in more isolated locations in Cornwall, France, Arizona, Chile, Bolivia, and Namibia.

Metaphysically, Cuprite, due to its heavy specific gravity, is considered very grounding and stabilizing. It works very well with individuals that tend to be a bit “flighty”. It keeps those individuals focused on tasks at hand. It is very good for individuals with ADHD.

Cuprite is said to heal relationships with authority figures such as a father. It is used to aid in the recollection of past life experiences. It is an amazing mineral that helps in controlling will power, increases confidence, enhances sexuality, and channel masculine energies. It aids in reducing worries of things that we have no control over and releasing them to the universe. It aids in teaching and delivering spiritual gifts and messages. It is used at the base Chakra to heal and balance sexual organs and provides grounding.
